Sea angel (Clione limacina) swimming under ice. Sea angels are pelagic sea slugs, meaning they move in the open sea as opposed to the sea foor. Their main prey are small molluscs known as sea butterflies, which sea angels extract from their shells and swallow whole. Sea butterflies are only found for a short period each year, so sea angles are able to hunt other small organisms, but it has also been found that they can survive without eating for around a year.
