Stock Footage

The term stock footage is often used as a catchall for all licensable, third-party footage or a general shorthand for clip licensing, which can be a little confusing, especially for those new to footage licensing. At, we think of stock footage as a specific category within the broader footage licensing ecosystem, consisting of footage intended to be used primarily for it’s visual and/or narrative impact. Good examples of stock footage, stock video and stock film, include model-released footage, timelapse footage, footage of explosions and generic establishing shots.
