Stock Footage

The term stock footage is often used as a catchall for all licensable, third-party footage or a general shorthand for clip licensing, which can be a little confusing, especially for those new to footage licensing. At Footage.net, we think of stock footage as a specific category within the broader footage licensing ecosystem, consisting of footage intended to be used primarily for it’s visual and/or narrative impact. Good examples of stock footage, stock video and stock film, include model-released footage, timelapse footage, footage of explosions and generic establishing shots. Below is a small sample of the types of stock footage you can find on Footage.net, intended primarily to help you better understand the category and begin tapping into some truly amazing stock footage.
