The University of North Texas Library - Department of Special Collections has exclusive rights to license content from the oldest television news archie in Texas and the Southwest. The NBC5/KXAS Archive (originally WBAP), contains footage spanning 1948-2013. Footage is focused on the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area, but there is frequent coverage from other Texas locations and nearby states. Footage may be licensed directly from the University of North Texas.

The NBC5 archive contains ample footage many noteworthy events such as the Branch Davidian standoff in Waco. Crime, politics, sports, pop culture, and local news are heavily represented in daily news footage.

Smaller collections of licensable footage includes documentary b-roll from filmmaker Jo Streit (Ross Perot campaign documentary), film from the archive of Bell Helicopter, and a large selection of home movies digitized from 8mm and 16mm film.
