Script | LEAD: Imagine opening your home to some brothers down on their luck...then finding out they're two of America's most wanted fugitives. It happened to one Utah rancher...opening his doors to Chevie Kehoe and his brother Shane, wanted for a shoot-out with police in Ohio. Reporter Lea Ann Maycock has the latest details. SCRIPT: (SOT)(SOT)(SOT)Rodney Leavitt and his family are still reeling from the news. They thought the men living and working on their farm were nice guys. They found out...they were wanted felons.(SOT)(SOT)Leavitt hired Chevie and Cheyne Kehoe to work on his farm after he found them camping in the mountains. Leavitt took them in, put them to work, and soon the Kehoes became like part of the family.(SOT)Now, Rodney says he wants to make sure Chevie's family will be O-K...and he wants to hear Chevie and Shane's side of the story.(SOT)Rodney Leavitt is so concerned about Chevie Kehoe's wife and kids that he has worked with the F-B-I to put the family in a safe place for the time being. Reporting from Cedar City Utah, I'm Lea Ann Maycock. TAG: Leavitt says he wants to hear the boys' side of the story, but he still doesn't like the idea that they had an arsenal of weapons on his property...and they apparently committed some serious crimes. |
